Checkless Payments - Diner Experience

Checkless Payments is designed to make your dining experience smoother, faster, and more enjoyable—from the moment you book your table to the moment you walk out the door. This article walks through what diners can expect at every stage—before, during, and after their meal—highlighting how Checkless Payments enhances convenience, personalization, and diner experiences.

The Guest Journey: Step-by-Step

1. Booking a Reservation or Joining the Waitlist* 

Once a diner receives their reservation or waitlist* confirmation text, they’re guided into the pre-dining experience, where they can enroll in Checkless Payments by saving a payment method and selecting a preset gratuity option.

Once enrollment is complete, a confirmation text is sent to the diner, verifying their successful enrollment for Checkless Payments.

2. Pre-Dining Experience

Before arriving at the restaurant, the diner gains access to a branded, customized digital experience that may include:

  • A preview of featured menu items or seasonal specials

  • Information about upcoming events or promotions

  • A look at the restaurant’s menu, styled to reflect the concept’s brand

  • Options to add notes or share special occasions (e.g., birthdays, anniversaries)

  • Convenient access to directions and social media, including a live Instagram feed

By engaging with the restaurant before their visit, the diner begins their experience early—building anticipation and establishing a sense of connection with the restaurant before they even arrive.

The diner can also utilize the pre-dining experience to update their Checkless Payments card on file, update gratuity choice, or add a guest to their Checkless party*. 

3. Arrival and Seating

Once seated, the diner receives a text welcoming them in and confirming their enrollment in Checkless Payments with a link to their Live Check. From that point on, they can relax and enjoy the meal without needing to request the check.

4. Dining

The diner gains access to the Live Check, which updates in real time. They can view their bill at any point during the meal, or choose not to—it’s entirely optional. The diner can also update their payment method or gratuity at any time during service.

5. After the Meal

At the end of the meal, the diner can leave at their convenience while staff processes payment using the specified Checkless Payments tender. The diner then receives a thank-you text with a link to their official receipt.  

In this official receipt, diners can review itemized charges and leave feedback via a 5-star rating.

*Note: the ability to add guests to the Checkless Party is not currently available, but it will be coming soon.
