Checkless Payments - Merchant Experience
Checkless Payments is designed to streamline operations, reduce friction at the table, and elevate the diner experience. This guide walks through what staff can expect at every stage of service—from the moment a diner books a table to the moment they walk out the door—highlighting how Checkless Payments integrates into your existing flow.
The Operational Journey: Step-by-Step
1. Reservation & waitlist*
How to Identify a Checkless Payments diner
Reservation diners: When a diner arrives with a reservation, the host will see a clear indicator on the reservation that the diner is enrolled in Checkless Payments.
Waitlist* diners: If a walk-in joins the waitlist*, they will receive a text message with the option to enroll in Checkless Payments. If the diner chooses to enroll via the link in the text, their waitlist* profile will automatically update to reflect their enrollment.
Suggested Host Talk Track:
“Welcome! I see you’re enrolled in Checkless Payments—thanks for joining us.”
“You’ll receive a text when your table is ready. Feel free to enroll in Checkless Payments in the meantime for a seamless checkout.”
2. Seating & Dining Experience
Server Notification: When the diner is seated, the POS will indicate if they are enrolled in Checkless Payments. Servers can view the diner’s profile, including notes, preferences, and past orders, to help personalize the experience.
Live Check Access: After being seated, the diner receives a text with a link to their Live Check, which updates in real time.Â
Suggested Server Talk Track:  Servers can acknowledge a Checkless diner with, “I see you’re a Checkless Payments diner—do you have any questions?” However, many merchants opt not to mention Checkless Payments here, keeping the focus on the diner’s experience.
3. Final diner Interaction
Final Table Touch: While there's no need to drop a check or to take payment, this final table touch reinforces hospitality, provides an opportunity for feedback, and ensures a smooth, confident close to the dining experience.
Suggested Talk Tracks:
“You’re all set to leave whenever you’re ready—no need to wait for the check!”
4. Closing Out the Check
Close-out: Once the server notes that the table has left, they can close the check using the Checkless Payments tender in the POS.
That’s it! No printed check, no waiting, no hassle.
*Note: Checkless Payments for digital waitlist is not currently available, but this feature is coming soon.
