Integration & Compatibility

Can Checkless Payments integrate with any POS or reservation system?
Currently, Checkless Payments is only available with Clover Hospitality POS and Reservations. Integration with other systems is not supported at this time.

Functionality & Experience

How is Checkless Payments different from QR Code and Pay or other payment solutions?
Unlike QR code-based payments, Checkless Payments keeps servers in control of closing the check, allowing diners to simply leave when they’re ready—no need to request the bill.

Can walk-in diners use Checkless Payments?
Not yet. This feature will soon be available for diners who join the digital waitlist*.

Can a party split the check if one diner is enrolled in Checkless Payments?
This functionality is not currently supported but coming soon!

Will the diner receive a notification when items are added to their Live Check?
No. The Live Check updates in real time, but diners must refresh the page to see new items.

When will the diner see the items added to their Live Check?
Items are displayed on the Live Check once they are fired to the kitchen.

What happens if an item is voided?
Voided items will be removed from the Live Check automatically.

What if the diner doesn’t receive the Live Check link via SMS?
There is currently no manual way to resend the link. Please ensure the diner’s payment information is up to date.

Gratuity & Payments

Can diners update their gratuity?
Yes. Diners can update their gratuity:

  • Before their reservation

  • During the meal via the Live Check

  • Up to one hour after the check is closed by the restaurant*

Can Checkless Payments diners choose not to leave a tip?
Diners must select a gratuity amount to enroll. However, they may choose “Other” and manually enter 0% if desired. Gratuity options are set by the restaurant.

Will the server be able to see the tip selected for a Checkless Payment table?
Servers will only see the gratuity after the check is closed. It is not visible during service.

What if a diner asks to update their gratuity?
Direct them to the Live Check, where they can update their gratuity.

Can diners use a gift card with Checkless Payments?
Not at this time. If they prefer to use a gift card, they will need to use a traditional payment method.

Server & Staff Capabilities

Can servers still apply discounts?
Yes.

Can servers print a receipt for the diner?
Yes. A physical receipt can be printed upon request. Diners will also receive a digital receipt via SMS once the check is closed.

Can diners close their own check?
No. Only the server can close the check, maintaining full control over the payment process.

Where can I see the star reviews from customer receipts?

These reviews are stored in your internal diner database and feedback tools. We do not currently integrate with third-party platforms like Google or Yelp.

* NOTE: The ability to update gratuity after a check is closed and Checkless Payments for the digital waitlist are not yet available, but both features are coming soon.
