NEW! How to Add and Edit Website Menus
Edited

BentoBox's website menus are a collection of items that can be grouped into meaningful sections for your guests. Section examples within a menu could be Appetizers, Salads, Entrees, and Desserts. Because items get associated with menus, it is important to create your menu items first before creating your menu. See how to create items here.

To create a menu within the BentoBox backend, navigate to Website > Content Boxes > Menus.

The menus you create will appear on this Menus list page. You can quickly see the menu name, if it’s published or unpublished, and which locations the menu is associated with.

You’ll also be able to edit, duplicate or clone, and delete any unused menus.

Click Add New to start creating a new menu or the pencil icon to edit an existing menu.

Fill out the fields in the Menu Information section:

Name: This is what the menu will be called within the BentoBox backend, and what your guests will see on the menu page if you do not add a menu display name (keep reading).

Display Name: Optional. This is the name that guests will see on your website menu. If you don’t set a Display Name, your guests will see the Menu Name (see above).

Description: This will appear in your website menu for your guests to see and provides more information about a menu.

Gallery: Add some images for visual appeal. If you add images to your menu here, it will display at the bottom of your website menu page. Images should be at least 1800px wide and 1260 px tall. Learn more about photography specs here.

PDF Menu: Add your menu as a file for your guests to view and download.

Now let’s move on to how you want to display your menu and items. Under Layout, choose how many columns you want displayed on your menu page.

Start creating Menu Sections and use the drag and drop feature in the Layout section to order your menu sections however you like. In order to customize your menu with some freeform content, you may want to add a Text Section to your menu. This allows you the flexibility to add some introductory or explanatory text. Items cannot be added to Text Sections.

For each Menu section that you create, choose the items you want to be displayed in that section. As a reminder, you must have your items already created beforehand so you can add them to a menu section.

On the right hand side of the Edit Menu page, you have different publish options for how and when you want the menu to go live on your website. Publish right away with the toggle or schedule a publish/unpublish date.

The Item Display checkboxes give you control for what item details you want to show on the website menu. For example, if you don’t want to show the prices of your items on your website menu, just uncheck the prices box. If you want to make sure you show which Modifiers come with each item, make sure that box is checked.

Lastly, you can associate the menu to different locations so there is no need to recreate the same menu for each location.

Be sure to hit Save at the top of the Page and you’re ready to go!
