I thought BentoBox was already ADA compliant or certified accessible. Why do I need an additional subscription?
Our platform and templates have been audited and are certified accessible, however, we could not provide certification of each individual restaurant website as the content is ever-changing. But now with ADA Essentials and ADA Plus, you'll have a tool that monitors your website daily for accessibility errors, fixes them weekly and can provide ADA certification for your website.
What's included in Bentobox's ADA plans?
Accessibility without ADA Pro:
• Certified accessible platform and templates
• Guide on how to keep your content accessible on the BentoBox platform
Accessibility with ADA Essentials:
• Certified accessible platform and templates
• Certificate of accessibility for your individual website
• Real time daily monitoring and automated remediation for common accessibility issues
Accessibility with ADA Plus:
• Certified accessible platform and templates
• Certificate of accessibility for your individual website
• Real time daily monitoring and automated remediation for common accessibility issues
• Monthly manual testing and customized fixes by engineers
• Accessibility reports available upon request
• Remediation and rebuttal reports in the event of a lawsuit
What happens if I cancel my ADA subscription?
You may cancel anytime. Your services will continue until your cancelation date.
How much work is required on my end to set this up?
None!
Can you guarantee if I use ADA Pro that I won't get sued?
We do not guarantee protection from lawsuits, however, having this accessibility add-on on your website significantly reduces the chances of receiving a lawsuit
Why do I have to pay for this?
To ensure a website is accessible, it needs to be tested with various assistive technologies and remediated by a team of developers.
Am I guaranteed to be 100% compliant to ADA standards with ADA Essentials or ADA Plus?
There is no such thing as a 100% compliant website because there are no federal laws around what it means to have a compliant website That said, ADA Essentials and ADA Plus ensure your website is as accessible as possible. It's one of the best tools in the market for this kind of work.
How long does it take to get certified through ADA Essentials or ADA Plus?
Accessibility changes start from day 1 of activating the JavaScript but moving to Step 4 which is certification depends on how complex your website is and takes ~100 days.
What happens if I receive a demand letter or lawsuit with ADA Plus on my site?
We will supply you with a Sustainable Testing and Remediation (STAR) Plan, which speaks to all the work that has been done to make your website accessible. If this happens you can ask your customer success manager for this info and we will get this for you.
We will also have our accessibility partners at AudioEye review the allegations and provide additional correspondence as needed.
What happens if I delete pages or add new content - will my website still be accessible?
Absolutely! This accessibility add-on is constantly monitoring 24/7 and making changes
Is the toolbar present on mobile?
All the remediation work that has been done on your website does carry over to mobile. Help Desk and the Certification Statement tools on the toolbar will be the only tools that show up on mobile.
The rest of the tools do not appear on your mobile website because these devices are already equipped with accessibility tools like VoiceOver (Apple) and TalkBack (Android).
Do I get weekly or monthly reports?
BentoBox can provide reports as needed or requested by you. There is no automatic reporting feature yet.
How long does it take for a customer to move from each step in the remediation process?
Each website is different so it depends but typically the icon and Step 1 (Activation) will be in seven days or less. Step 2 and 3 (Testing & Discovery and Remediation & Validation) happen simultaneously. Step 4 (AudioEye Trusted) is a continuous monitoring process. The total process is approximately 80-120 days in most cases.
What browsers are ADA Essentials and ADA Plus compatible with?
Both tools work with all modern, standard-compliant Web browsers, including the latest two versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Microsoft Edge, and Internet Explorer 11.
As of January 12, 2016, Microsoft stopped providing security updates, compatibility fixes, and technical support to Internet Explorer 10 and below. As a result, these non-secure, legacy browsers are not supported ADA Essentials or ADA Plus powered by AudioEye. Microsoft is only providing these updates to IE 11+ going forward.
What does always on monitoring mean? How often do ADA Essentials and ADA Pro monitor a website and what actions are taken?
ADA Essentials and ADA Plus are constantly monitoring your site— 24/7. Results are compiled on a weekly basis and analyzed. Any additional (new) accessibility concerns (errors or risks) are addressed based on level of criticality.
Can I change the color of the blue widget?
Unfortunately no. This icon must remain as is.
Can we hide the blue floating man completely? Or can we put the icon in our accessibility statement?
Unfortunately, this is not available yet. Having the icon on your website is powerful because it showcases that you've thought about website accessibility and are actively working on the issue.
Can ADA Essentials or ADA Plus make PDFs accessible?
ADA Essentials and ADA Plus are currently unable to make PDFs accessible however, both BentoBox and AudioEye are working on a solution for this.
Can ADA Essentials or ADA Plus add captions to my videos for me?
No; ADA Essentials and ADA Plus cannot make fixes on third party technologies like Youtube or Vimeo.
