Google Analytics is an incredibly powerful tool, and there’s an entire industry devoted to analyzing and optimizing sites according to the statistics in GA. While not every restaurant has access to a Google Analytics account, that doesn’t mean they can’t capture meaningful website data on BentoBox. Once a website launches, BentoBox begins to collect first-party data using internal tools that monitor platform performance and provide website visitor data in the dashboard.
Not all analytics tools are created equal, meaning some tools collect data—or count data—in different ways. The data displayed in a BentoBox dashboard connected to a Google Analytics account will show slightly different statistics than data collected by BentoBox Website Insights.
Not to worry, our team has found there to only be about a <5% difference in the data surfaced between the two. There are a variety of factors that contribute to that difference but it is mostly due to the fact that each tool has a unique set of criteria and logic that defines a “visitor” or a “page view”. Some of the criteria uses browser cookies to define a user while other criteria may use the IP address.
