Managing Tables and Opening Checks

Edited

Overview

This guide will walk you through setting up tables, opening checks, navigating dining sections, and using key features like floor cues and server notes.

Navigating the Table Map

  • When you open the POS system, the Table Map is the first screen you see.

  • Two table states exist:

    • Gray Box → Unoccupied table

    • Green Box → Occupied table

Creating a Table & Check

  1. Tap a table to open the Table Creation

  2. Select a table from the dropdown or enter a custom number

  3. Adjust Diner Count as needed

  4. Use the Server Notes field to add important details (e.g., birthdays, dietary restrictions)

  5. Click Create Check to finalize

Dining Sections & Table Availability

  • From the 'Tables' tab, you can view each dining section

  • Each section displays the number of available tables within that section

Table View vs Check View

  • Table Map View
This view displays all tables across dining sections. It’s most commonly used by servers to monitor table status and manage open checks.

  • Check View
This view shows all open checks, regardless of table. It’s especially useful for bartenders or staff managing multiple orders at once.

Using Floor Cues to Improve Service

Table Cues help set the pace of the dining room. They’re designed to be intuitive and proactive, guiding staff behavior in real time. Table Cues also support staff training by providing direction without requiring captains or managers to step in, making it easier to maintain consistent service standards across shifts.

  • If a table does not have any check activity for too long at the beginning of service, a Floor Cue (clock icon) appears. The cue will disappear once an item has been fired.

  • This visual reminder prompts servers to check in, take orders, or assist guests, helping ensure no table is overlooked during service.

  • Default trigger time: 60 seconds, but this can be adjusted based on operational needs in the Dashboard.
