Applying Service Charges in the POS

Overview

Service charges in the POS are applied at the check level and can be configured to include tax. This guide explains how to apply and manage service charges from the POS and Dashboard.


Applying Service Charges in the POS

  • On the Pay Screen, tap the Apply button.

  • Navigate to the Service Charges tab.

  • Select a service charge (e.g., Corkage Fee).

  • The charge will be added as a new line item on the check.

  • Tap the X to remove the service charge if needed.


Configuring Service Charges in the Dashboard

  • Navigate to Location Subnavigation.

  • Click Switch Locations and select the appropriate location.

  • Go to Checkout Settings β†’ Service Charges.

  • Click Add New to create a service charge.

  • Enter:

    • Charge Type

    • Service Charge Amount

    • Tax Settings (Taxed or Not Taxed)

  • Toggle Active to make the service charge available in the POS.

Q: Can service charges be applied to individual items?
A:
No, service charges can only be applied at the check level.

Q: Can service charges be taxed?
A:
Yes, tax can be applied based on the selected configuration in the Dashboard.

Q: Can service charges be removed after being applied?
A:
Yes, tap the X next to the service charge label to remove it.

Q: Why don’t I see a service charge in the POS?
A:
Service charges must be created and marked Active in the Dashboard to appear in the POS.
